An article on MarketingProfs says “marketing spend on mobile display ads and search will surpass $1 billion on 2011.” This is not surprising, giving stats on mobile usage.
Mobi-thinking.com reports that mobile Internet usage “is expected to double” by 2014 (500 million to 1 billion.) This could be a conservative forecast, but when anything doubles it’s huge. There are currently 5.3 billion mobile subscribers—phone and Internet usage combined. To read more of this interesting article, go here.
For non-profits, you have to ask yourself—Is our website mobile friendly? Should it be?
Take a look at your website on a smart phone. What is the experience like? Some mobile sites deliver key info clearly at a small size, but (in my opinion) an important part of your website is making an emotional connection with viewers through photos, phrases and colours. Perhaps, instead of shelling out big bucks for a specific mobile site redesign, you can chat with your webmaster and work on redesigning a simpler, easier-to-read-at-small-sizes site?
