I recently found this in a book publishers blog comments. It was made by a reader and not the blog author:
I am a gluten for punishment.
In case you’re unsure, it should read “I am a glutton for punishment.” Thank you, dictionary.com, for telling us that gluten is a “tough, viscid, nitrogenous substance remaining when the flour of wheat or other grain is washed to remove the starch.”
Knowledge is power!
Hi Nala,
I found a major editing blunder in an unfortunate web posting that read
(NO joke):
“For Sale! Genitally used boy’s baby clothing available”.
Erm… Right. I’ll pop over and snap those up, then. This proves that editors are NOT a dying breed. If anything, we become critically necessary as technology makes screen errors more likely and easier to broadcast far and wide!
Oh NO, that is hilarious! It was great meeting you last Saturday. Keep me posted with your blog and everything else!
